A Short History
I've had a lifelong interest in wood working. When I retired from industry over 13 years ago, I set up my workshop and began making cabinets, measuring twice and cutting once (or sometimes the other way around). It is exacting and fussy work. Satisfaction comes gradually as the cabinet finally takes shape.
One day I tried out the lathe I had bought as a part of outfitting my shop. Turning wood is addictive. I never went back to cabinetmaking.
I find great satisfaction in turning a fallen log into a beautiful wooden form, exposing its unique pattern of grain, knots, cracks and figure and giving it a shape that accents that beauty. And, unlike cabinetwork, there is instant gratification as the beauty of the piece unfolds before my eyes. Its like kissing a toad and turning her into a princess.
